Dr. Boynton was raised in Bedford, New York, and completed most of his dental and surgical training in Connecticut. After many long winters, he decided to settle in beautiful Sonoma, CA, where his wife’s family resides. Dr. Boynton enjoys being a part of this close-knit community and enjoys seeing his patients around town. Dr. Boynton believes in treating every patient like family and takes extra time to get to know his patients on a personal level. He has a true passion for helping others and a skill for making his patients feel welcome, secure, and at ease. He prides himself on being an approachable surgeon by listening to his patient’s concerns and addressing their needs.
Dr. Boynton has written multiple scientific articles and has contributed to several book chapters. He stays current on the latest trends in dentistry and far exceeds the yearly minimum continuing education requirements to maintain his dental licensure. He has a particular interest in the administration of anesthesia, dental implants, bone grafting, dentoalveolar surgery, full-arch fixed reconstruction, and treatment of wisdom teeth. He has traveled to both Haiti and Paraguay to perform these types of surgery on the underserved and looks forward to planning a trip in the near future.
Dr. Boynton graduated from Trinity College in 2003 and then earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in 2009.
After dental school, Dr. Boynton completed a one-year general practice residency at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto, CA, and then completed a four-year residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Connecticut.
Dr. Boynton is board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. This is a rigorous two-year process that consists of passing both a written and an oral examination that covers the full scope of procedures performed by oral and maxillofacial surgeons. Completing this certification process shows that Dr. Boynton is prepared to treat patients at the highest level of care. Dr. Boynton is a fellow of both the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He maintains hospital privileges at Sonoma Valley Hospital.
Dr. Boynton has completed the process of being Stemodontics-certified and proudly offers this service to patients. Now, stem cells can be used to benefit you or your child’s future health.
Dr. Boynton appreciates all that the beautiful Sonoma area has to offer. He loves spending time with his wife and their son. He enjoys skiing, SCUBA diving, and golf, and he loves to travel.
